The InSPIRE Family Program creates a space for South Asian families to deepen their familiarity with India through an enjoyable, service-based 2-week trip. Families can expect to interact extensively with local communities, the host NGO & staff, and other South Asian families, while participating in group activities and reflections lead by InSPIRE coordinators.
Who: At least 1 adult and 1 minor per family. Minimum age is 13, though exceptions are considered. South Asian ancestry preferred.
What: One week at each NGO. Accommodations are clean, quiet, and suitable for westerners.
Where: The first NGO will be Manav Sadhna, based in Ahmedabad's Gandhi Ashram. The second NGO is TBD.
When: July 3rd - 17th, 2009.
Why: To deepen your family's connection to India. To deepen your connection to one another. And to allow your family to jointly define a common purpose around mutual understanding and life-long service. Each day will follow combinations of hands-on activities, self-actualization activities and thoughtful discussion with leaders in the field of humanity, poverty, education and environment.
How: Click here for an application. Applications are due April 3rd, 2009.
Cost: YOU decide! The break-even cost to run our program is here. The fees you pay help sustain the program and make it available for other participants in the future.
The InSPIRE Family program is coordinated jointly with Indians For Collective Action, a secular, non-profit organization with over 40 years of experience in development through innovation.
